I just read an article on the wonderful Engadget.com about AMD possible getting out of the manufacturering business and only doing design.  They would be outsourcing all of their manufacturing needs.

Go to Engadget.com to read what they have on it.

Intel's Core 2 Duo has simply been so dominant it's amazing.  Competition is a good thing for consumers.  So this could be very unfortunate.

I think it is pretty crazy that AMD might be taking a step back.  I have purchased a few AMD's in my life when I just couldn't afford Intel and I have to say that I had a lot of problems with them and they have gotten better but they still have tons of problems.  Hopefully they will still be able to compete with Intel so we can still afford Intel.

Through the latter P4 years..Up untill the core 2 duo... I was an AMD fan.

I thought the pentium 4 architecture was pretty weak, and overheated.   I built several AMD systems that ran beautifully and cooler than Intel.

Course the core 2 duo blew them out of the water.

AMD has made some big changes though... like buying ATI.
