I'm not sure what problems you are referring to, but we have had very few Vista compatibility issues with printers. Our most popular printer solution is the USB to parallel adapter and it installs flawlessly using Windows drivers.
Often you will need to check for Vista drivers from the printer manufacturer, but it is rare that there will be any problems.
We have an HP 5650 that we do a lot of testing with. It has both USB and Parallel ports on it and we have been able to test with PCI paralell cards, USB cables, extensions, USB to parallel cables and have not had any issues.
There are a handfull of oddities when setting up printers, in any OS. So if you have problems it might just need a general fix. If you need help navigating around the Vista interface let us know.
