Nvidia not working on CPUs

There has been plenty of speculation in the Tech Industry that Nvidia would be bringing their own CPU's to the market.  Howeere for the time being this appears not to be the case.

But it seems that this is not to be, and Nvidia will continue to focus on GPU and the GPGPU field. We suspect that the renewed focus will result in the boys from Satan Clara becoming the sole provider of high-end graphics hardware, as the other two firms focus on the mainstream and shirk away from the effort of bleeding edge graphics development.

Additionally, Jen-Hsun is said to have commented that he would "welcome" additional competition in the high-end GPU space from Intel, should its team decide to turn their hand to GPUs beyond Larrabee.

Isnt there a way to use your Graphics card to process additional information? I recall a program calling somthing@home that uses the video card processers to calculate the shapes of molecules. Are there any other ways?

GPUs are getting so quick, I always thought it would be cool to write an OS that could run right off of the video card using the video processor, ram and just have access to an external drive (USB or whatever)

That'd be a really cool way to do a recovery from a corrupt or broken computer
