According to Daily Tech Sony plans to release 380 new games this fiscal year.  That would be more than amazing if they were actually able to do that.  I mean devs have been complaining quite a bit about how hard it is to develop games for the good ol' cell processor. Wink

The Cell is such a cool processor, it's depressing that it's kind of getting a smudged name from the PS3 flop.

Sony should have had their own developers come up with a handfull of engines, that developers could have scripted games from and built off of, and could have used as a start point for future engines.

There are a lot of advantages, with the PS3 hardware, but they have to completely redesign games from 1s and 0s.  Even with the extra space on the blu ray disks, its so much easier to write for a console based on functionality they know.

Even though the PS3 seems to not be doing so well I wouldn't count it out yet.  With the reports of lots of games coming out and reports of execs trying to drop the price it may just survive.

Sony's PS2 had lots of problems right off too, but it still became one of the best consoles ever.  My first PS2 (which i got on the launch date) died within a year.  Reports from all over came in of people's PS2s dying in the same way.

Yet it made it cause of content.  So if Sony can pull off a price drop and release some sweet games, i think it could pull out of it's problemed state.

I think that they are defiantly going to have to lower the price to get people to buy it.  It is an amazing machine and you could say that it is ahead of its time but that is pretty much, in my opinion, why people arn't buying them.  They have HD dvd which is great but there just arn't that many HD dvds yet and if you look at the system as an HD DVD player then the price isn't bad at all but its just not that popular yet so it just makes the system look too expensive.  I'm not a very big Play Station fan anyways.

Careful ryan you might get some sony exec to sue you for misrepresenting their product. Haha.  it doesn't play HD DVDs it plays Blu-Ray discs.
