Anyone who was playing pc games 10 years ago remembers Starcraft.  It is one of the few games that old which is still worth playing, and Korea actually has a tv chanel devoted to starcraft gameplay.  There are even profesional Starcraft gamers out there.  So finally, with years of anticipation, they've finally announced they have a sequel on the way.  There is no ETA yet, which is a bummer, but they seem very far along and mostly working on balancing issues at this point.  I'm guessing they'll release sometime in the second quarter of next year, but that is only a guess.  Check out their official website for information and gameplay videos- www.starcraft2.com

Starcraft has become a classic that is still being played which I think is amazing.  I enjoyed starcraft and I am excited for this sequel to come out.  Blizzard Entertainment always does an excellent job with their games and I know this won't be any exception.

Yeah it looks like it's going to be pretty fun.  I am kinda dissappointed that Blizzard isn't trying very hard on their graphics engine for it.  But at the same time i'm not really surprised.  Blizzard hasn't ever been one to focus a lot on next-gen graphics.  It's all about gameplay for them. (see: Diablo 2)

Although it would be cool if they could run some sweet graphic effects like C&C 3 does while having the amazing gameplay of starcraft.  I'll probably play the game, but it won't be one i'll be rushing out to buy right off.

That is true but I can definitely see why they would do that for marketing reasons.  If I play a demo of a game and my computer struggles to keep up then I definitely will not be purchasing the product.  So they will be able to sell more copies if their product is playable on more computers.  But that just makes sense.

Yeah that's true, but for those of us who really want games that look amazing and have the computers to handle it, we're just not as interested.  Right now the games that are the most interesting to me are the ones that look amazing, like Bioshock, Crysis and Unreal Tournament III.

Another possibility... it's been 10 years since the original starcraft... so apparently they are slow developers.  Maybe they started with next gen graphics, and it's just taken that long.  Wink

I'm actually not quite sure what the big difference is visually between Starcraft 2 and the new C&C.  I actually really like the way Starcraft 2 is looking, especially the way protoss warp in with those crazy transparent cubes.  I guess the problem is I am judging it vs the original starcraft and so it seems amazing to me, while I wasn't very impressed with command and conquer- maybe because my computer wasn't running all the highest video settings when I played the demo?

If you look at these two screen shots of the games you can definitely tell a difference in quality.  The two have a different look because they are different styles but C&C3 has more realistic graphics.

Dude, C&C3's graphics are better.  And if you could see the game run on full graphics you would have to agree.

Starcraft 2 definitely has more brilliant colors.  Which, if we take a look at previous blizzard games like Warcraft 3, is a very common thing for blizzard.  It works for their cartoon-ish style models and graphics.  Starcraft 2 does look good, but Command and Conquer 3 has an amazing level of detail and is just a lot more impressive looking to me.  Also i think it's impressive because it looks that amazing and came out so much earlier than starcraft 2 will.
