I was watching a film the other day (Was loosely based on religion but in a more layed back sarcastic way e.g god was a woman)
Anyway.. i was watching it and the angel gabriel who is known to be Gods messenger said this and i thought (as a none believer myself) was a really nice concept on religion.
The quote is not word for word just the main jist of it.
"Countries rage war on eachother for a belief in God as no other people's beliefs can be correct, but an idea of god is much more powerful. You can have an idea that god exists and as its an idea this can be changed."

Basically when people believe in something its an obsession a fact. Where as there is no proof. But if you have an idea god exists you feel he does but its not a fact that will cause war or confrontation.

Opinions?

Persoanlly i dont believe in god at all but watching that film let me be open at an "idea" that yes he/she could exist but there are no facts to prove so therefore it cannot be a belief.

It's from the movie Gabriel right? well then since i disliked the movie and thought of it as nonsense. Then it's a belief thing.

It's belief. The film has no motives, no moral values, not much of an important message there. I bet the movie is just for profit oriented thing not meant to describe anything.
