I am trying to use FastLynx 3.3 over a Wireless LAN with a Router using TCP/IP. When I configure the server (listening) side of the conversation, FastLynx insists on reporting that it is using IP 169.254.2.2, even though I specified a different IP in the Remote Connection Parameters dialog. In my case I specified the IP of 192.168.2.254 which is a valid IP on my network.

I configured a new user in the Security Dialog with a strong password.

I also opened up the Virtual server address of 192.168.2.254 with port 2689 on my router.

No authentication prompt shows up on the client side. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Dennis

Using Ipconfig, I discovered that the IP address I coded was being associated with an unused ethernet port. Once I specified the IP address of the Wireless connection, the connection came right up on the client side.

I was surprised however that no authentication dialog showed up.

Thanks,
Dennis

I was just about to respond with some suggestions, but it looks like you got it figured out.  Let us know if you have any other troubles with it.

There are some security settings you can configure.  (On the listening computer) If you go to the configuration menu and select Security, you can add login names and passwords then select which connection types require a login.

It is also strongly suggested that you limit the IP addresses that have access to your computer.  I usually limit to computers that are within my network (for instance 192.168.2.1 - 192.168.2.255)  Someone would have to be connected to your physical network (either through your wifi, or one of the ports on your router)  That way if your network is secure, Fastlynx will be secure.
