I am not sure if anyone can help, but I have recently (over the past month or so) started having problems with my Compaq Laptop, Duel Adapter, and Pantech PX-500 AirCard.
First, it is important to note that previously I was able to use the Pantech card with my DuelAdapter on my Compaq laptop with no problem! Unfortunately, I do not know when it stopped working correctly, or what may have caused the problem.
Currently, the Sprint Connection Manager will not recognize the Pantech Card.
Here is the deal:
My Laptop is a Compaq V5201US. I do not have any other ExpressCard devices, so I have been unable to test the functionality of the express card slot itself; however, I did take the computer to Microcenter for diagnostics and they reported that they found no problems with the Expresscard and were able to get a card to work in the slot. My Pantech card works just fine in my D-Link DIR450 router, so I suspect the problem is not with the Pantech Card. Finally, the Adapter itself - I reported the above to Duel-Systems and they sent me out another Adapter, and I still continue to have problems. Thus, it seems that it might be a software or driver issue. I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall drivers many times, in different order, with no luck. I think I've done most everything short of reinstalling windows (XP Home Edition).
One thing that happens that never happened previously - when the Duel Adapter is inserted (with the Pantech card also attached) the computer makes multiple beeps (the beep sound for a device insertion.)
The Duel Adapter drivers report (as well as is shown in Device Manager) that a "NEC PCI to USB open host controller" is the inserted device. In device manager, and in the remove hardware utility, there is actually two listings for the "NEC PCI to USB open Host Controller."
The Pantech card shows in Device manager in two places. Once under the "Modems" category as "Pantech PC Card (UDP)" and again under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" as "Pantech PC Card Composite Device (UDP)."
I'm not even sure if this is the expected behavior for the devices, as I never paid close attention to the drivers when it was working properly.
Any advice, suggestions, or help troubleshooting would be appreciated.
