ok so what i am trying to accomplish (please dont question lol i get enough at work) is playing Wii through my pc moniter. now at first i tried going component to component input on my video card only to realize that the inputs on my video card (nvidia geforce 8500 gt 512mb) werent inputs at all instead they were HDTV component outs... sooo i strolled on over to best buy (my work) and they said that i could get component to VGA. nice. WE DONT SELL IT. sucks, so first i guess i wanna know if this will really work, and second, where can i get an affordable one?

The VGA ports on computer monitors can not generally support a component signal.  You would need some sort of signal converter to go from the YPbPr (component) signal to the RGBHV (VGA) signal.  The product i would recommend is this one here:

VGA to Component converter box
